Pharmaceutical Exhibitions UK 2027: Dates, Venues and Which Ones Suit Your Business

Key Takeaways

  • The 2027 UK pharmaceutical and life-sciences calendar opens with the Festival of Genomics & Biodata (27–28 January) and Advanced Therapies UK (9–10 March) at ExCeL London, moves to Making Pharma, Moving Pharma and Making Nutra at the NEC Birmingham (20–21 April) and UK Biotech Day in London (19–20 May), and closes with ELRIG Drug Discovery in Liverpool (19–20 October).
  • Match the show to the person who signs the order: manufacturing, quality and distribution suppliers belong at Making Pharma and Moving Pharma, cell and gene therapy suppliers at Advanced Therapies UK, and research-tool suppliers at the Festival of Genomics or ELRIG Drug Discovery.
  • The ABPI reports that the industry committed £2 billion of new UK investment over the past year, but its chief executive says the recovery is not yet secure, so set a target for meetings or qualified leads before you pay for space.
  • Check the stand rules first. Making Pharma’s 2027 exhibit page lists a 2.4m height limit on shell scheme stands and 4m on space-only stands, and graphics for shell scheme panels must be cut to the exact panel sizes.
  • Production and dispatch typically take five to seven business days from proof approval, and your regulatory team’s sign-off must happen before that clock starts, so allow four to six weeks for artwork and production.

A pharmaceutical buyer or scientist walks a hall with a short list: the supplier they came to meet, the problem they need solved and very little patience for a stand that promises everything. If your display is at the wrong show, or at the right one with a message nobody can read from the aisle, you pay for the space, the travel and several days of your technical and sales team, in a sector where the ABPI says investment is recovering but not yet secure.

This guide sets out the pharmaceutical exhibitions UK suppliers, developers and service providers should have in the diary for 2027: dates, venues, who each show suits and what to check before you commit. It focuses on pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain, biotech and research events. Pharmacy-shop and NHS shows are covered in our healthcare guide, with a short cross-reference below.

Pharmaceutical exhibitions in the UK at a glance (2027)

The table lists events with 2027 dates published on their organisers’ own websites at the time of writing (27 October 2026). Some pages still carry 2026 details, so confirm dates and venues on the official page before you book travel or ship graphics.

Show 2027 dates Venue Best for
Festival of Genomics & Biodata Wednesday 27 to Thursday 28 January ExCeL London Genomics, data and research-tool suppliers selling to researchers, pharma and healthcare
Advanced Therapies UK Tuesday 9 to Wednesday 10 March ExCeL London Cell and gene therapy developers and their supply chain
Making Pharma, Moving Pharma and Making Nutra Tuesday 20 to Wednesday 21 April NEC Birmingham Manufacturing, quality, packaging, ingredient and distribution suppliers
UK Biotech Day Wednesday 19 to Thursday 20 May London (venue to be announced) Biotech companies, investors and service providers such as CROs and CDMOs
ELRIG Drug Discovery Tuesday 19 to Wednesday 20 October Liverpool (venue not named) Drug discovery scientists and laboratory technology suppliers

The list covers pharmaceutical, biotech and research events that publish a 2027 date. Lab Innovations at the NEC currently shows only its 4–5 November 2026 edition, the Cleanroom Technology Conference shows no date, and the London Biotechnology Show and BioTrinity pages did not give a clear 2027 edition, so none is listed. The largest global pharma fairs, such as CPHI, Pharmapack and Vitafoods Europe, are held on the continent rather than in the UK.

What the UK pharmaceutical market tells exhibitors in 2027

A large sector where investment is recovering, but not securely

The Office for Life Sciences estimates that the UK biopharmaceutical subsector had 2,960 companies, 163,600 employees and £98.9 billion of turnover in 2023/24. The publication notes that these are estimates and are not directly comparable with earlier years. For an exhibitor, the point is scale: this is a buying audience of thousands of companies, not a niche.

The ABPI’s 2026 competitiveness report puts the jobs supported by the pharmaceutical industry at more than 125,000 and its gross value added at £20.4 billion a year. It also records £2 billion of new investment committed since September 2025. The association’s chief executive is careful about what that means:

“this recovery is not yet secure”

— Richard Torbett, Chief Executive, ABPI

Source: ABPI, Green shoots for UK pharma investment, but delivery will decide whether they take root

That comment is an industry body’s view, not a forecast. It still explains why buyers are cautious: they want proof, references and a clear reason to change supplier before they commit budget.

Regulation and trade shape what buyers will spend on

The ABPI’s report records that the MHRA’s median approval time fell from 427 days in 2024 to 378 days in 2025, which suggests the regulatory environment is moving in the right direction. The picture on investment is less settled: the ABPI’s survey of 42 companies found that about £2 billion of UK investment was cancelled or paused in 2025.

Trade shows how international the sector is. The ABPI cites ONS data showing UK exports of medicinal and pharmaceutical products of £38.7 billion and imports of £27.7 billion in 2025. The ONS has changed how it counts pharmaceutical trade, so compare these with earlier years carefully. Ask each organiser how many overseas visitors it expects, because a UK show that draws international buyers is worth more to an exporter.

The top UK pharmaceutical exhibitions for 2027

The Festival of Genomics & Biodata: 27–28 January 2027, ExCeL London

Event: The Festival of Genomics & Biodata

Venue: ExCeL London (West entrance)

Date: Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 January 2027 (8.30am to 6.00pm, then 8.30am to 5.30pm)

Best for: Genomics, data and research-tool suppliers selling to researchers, pharma and healthcare

ExCeL’s listing describes the festival as the UK’s largest life sciences event, aimed at researchers, healthcare professionals, pharma and biotech companies, technology and solution providers, start-ups and patient organisations. It cites 8,300+ registrants without saying which year the figure covers, and it gives no exhibitor count or ticket details.

This is a science-led audience, so a stand that shows data clearly will do more than one that shouts. Ask the organiser for the floor plan and audited numbers. Because the show falls at the end of January, plan to approve artwork before the Christmas period, when business days are fewer.

Advanced Therapies UK: 9–10 March 2027, ExCeL London

Event: Advanced Therapies UK (Advanced Therapies Congress)

Venue: ExCeL London

Date: Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 March 2027

Best for: Cell and gene therapy developers, CDMOs and suppliers to advanced therapy manufacturers

The organiser’s page calls it Europe’s largest commercial cell and gene therapy conference and exhibition, with eight content tracks and 300+ speakers. It is aimed at the leaders of advanced therapy medicinal product companies, and also draws pharma, biotech, researchers, clinicians, regulators and payers.

The page’s own figures do not agree. It gives 200+ exhibitors in one place and 50 solution providers in another, and 3,000+ attendees in one place and 3,300 in another. Ask for the exhibitor prospectus and audited numbers. At a conference-led event most delegates are in sessions, so stand traffic comes in bursts at breaks, and a compact stand with one clear message works best.

Making Pharma, Moving Pharma and Making Nutra: 20–21 April 2027, NEC Birmingham

Event: Making Pharmaceuticals, with Moving Pharma and Making Nutra (one free registration covers all three)

Venue: NEC, Birmingham

Date: Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 April 2027

Best for: Manufacturing, quality, packaging, ingredient and distribution suppliers to the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries

This is the most supplier-focused event on the list. The organiser describes Moving Pharma as the UK’s event for pharmaceutical logistics, distribution and GDP, covering warehousing, transport, cold chain, packaging and outsourced services. Making Nutra, for food supplements, launched in 2026. Entry is free, and visitors can claim a certificate of attendance for their CPD record.

Be careful with the numbers. The organiser’s home page says more than 240 exhibitors took part in 2026, while a 2026 trade-press listing gave more than 150 exhibitors at the Coventry Building Society Arena. The 2027 exhibit page cites an attendee base of 2,000+, while its metadata says 1,700+. Treat all of them as unaudited, and confirm that the 2027 venue is the NEC.

The 2027 exhibit page lists two stand types. Space-only stands have a maximum height of 4m, and shell scheme stands, which include walling, carpet, lighting, a 500W power supply and a fascia name-board, have a maximum of 2.4m. On a shell scheme, shell scheme graphics cut to the exact panel sizes keep the stand tidy. Quality leads and auditors read closely, so keep claims precise.

UK Biotech Day: 19–20 May 2027, London

Event: UK Biotech Day

Venue: London (venue to be announced)

Date: Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 May 2027

Best for: Biotech companies, investors and service providers such as CROs and CDMOs looking for partners

UK Biotech Day’s own page describes a two-day event for executives and R&D scientists from pharma, biotech, medtech, investors, CROs, CDMOs, academia and regulators. It expects 700+ participants and cites 550+ biotech start-ups, both organiser claims, and it says the venue will be shared soon. The page does not name the organiser.

Exhibition spaces sit in the main hall and networking areas, and the exhibit package lists a 10-foot by 10-foot space, roughly 3m by 3m, with an optional presentation slot and access to a partnering platform for one-to-one meetings. A 3m exhibition display fits that footprint. Confirm the exact space dimensions and furniture with the organiser before you order.

ELRIG Drug Discovery: 19–20 October 2027, Liverpool

Event: ELRIG Drug Discovery 2027

Venue: Liverpool (venue not named on ELRIG’s page)

Date: Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 October 2027

Best for: Drug discovery scientists and laboratory automation, screening and technology suppliers

ELRIG’s event page says Drug Discovery is returning to Liverpool in 2027, calls it a conference with an exhibition, shows a free-to-attend banner and lets exhibitors book booths through an interactive floor plan. Themes and speakers are still to be announced, and registration had not opened when we checked.

The 2026 edition ran at ExCeL London on 14–15 October, and European Biotechnology reported that it welcomes thousands of delegates each year. No attendance or exhibitor figures are given for 2027, so ask. A laboratory audience values clean, accurate imagery, and a backlit display helps small diagrams and product images read from the aisle.

Pharmacy and NHS shows covered in our healthcare guide

If your buyers are pharmacy owners, NHS leaders or medical device makers, these shows sit in our healthcare guide rather than here. The dates and venues come from that guide, with the same checks needed.

How to choose the right pharmaceutical exhibition

Start with where the decision is made

Visitor numbers matter less than whether the people walking past can buy. List your last ten orders and note who signed them: a quality head, a production manager, a scientist, a logistics lead or a business development director.

If you sell to… Start with Why
Pharmaceutical manufacturers and nutraceutical makers (ingredients, equipment, packaging, quality services) Making Pharma and Making Nutra The organiser positions them around the manufacturing and supply chain
Pharmaceutical distributors and logistics teams Moving Pharma Built around distribution, GDP, cold chain and warehousing
Cell and gene therapy developers Advanced Therapies UK Conference and exhibition focused on advanced therapies
Researchers, genomics and data teams Festival of Genomics & Biodata Researchers, pharma, biotech and technology suppliers in one audience
Drug discovery laboratories ELRIG Drug Discovery A conference with an exhibition for the discovery community
Biotech start-ups, investors and outsourcing partners UK Biotech Day Built around partnering meetings

Know what you are allowed to say

Marketing for medicines is regulated, and what you may show depends on the product and the audience. Ask your regulatory or compliance lead to approve every claim, mark and image before artwork goes to print. This guide is not legal or regulatory advice.

Set a target before you pay for space

Agree what a good show looks like in numbers: booked meetings, qualified introductions, sample or trial requests, quotations. Sales cycles in this sector are long, so a realistic target is often a qualified introduction rather than a signed order. Our guide to what an exhibition stand costs in the UK helps you build the cost side.

Read the exhibitor manual before you design

Check whether you are on a shell scheme or a space-only plot, what the height limits are, what power you can have and what the organiser says about products or samples on show. Graphics for shell scheme panels must be cut to the exact panel sizes, so measure first.

Designing a stand that pharmaceutical buyers trust

  • Lead with one claim you can prove. Technical buyers are sceptical of broad promises, so state what the product does, for whom and with what evidence.
  • Make the data legible. If a graph, workflow or specification is your strongest argument, print it large enough to read from the aisle and light it well. Our guide to exhibition stand lighting covers how.
  • Plan a place to talk. Conversations about specifications, audits and pricing run longer than a hello. A custom printed counter and a corner with two chairs keep them off the aisle.
  • Only display marks and claims you are entitled to use. Certification marks, regulatory statements and performance claims should match your documentation and be approved before print.

A fabric display also suits a calendar with several shows. The frame stays the same and only the graphic is reprinted, so one exhibition display sized to your plot can serve Making Pharma in April and ELRIG in October with a refreshed message.

Preparing your display for a 2027 show

Production and dispatch typically take five to seven business days from the next working day after you order and approve your proof. Express is quoted at around four to five business days and costs extra. Large backlit builds can be quoted longer, at 10 to 12 business days at the time of writing, so confirm the date in writing. Your order confirmation shows the dispatch date, and if Backdropsource misses it, the order is upgraded to expedited shipping at its cost.

Couriers set the transit time, so aim for delivery a few days before you need the goods. Carriers deliver Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and someone must sign, and every show on this list opens on a weekday except the Pharmacy Show, which opens on a Sunday. If your regulatory team has to approve artwork, build that time in, because the production clock only starts when you confirm the proof. Our exhibition stand checklist covers packing, setup and breakdown.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Booking a general show for a specialist audience. A broad conference with the wrong buyers can be an expensive way to be ignored.
  • Letting approvals run late. Artwork reviewed late by regulatory or legal staff causes the biggest delays. Our first-time exhibitor checklist covers what to prepare and when.
  • Designing past the height limit. Check the 2.4m shell scheme and 4m space-only limits before you commission a tall backwall.
  • Ignoring follow-up. Shows generate introductions, not contracts, and our guide to trade show marketing covers how to plan before, during and after.

Your pre-show checklist

  1. List your last ten orders and identify who signed each one.
  2. Shortlist two or three shows and confirm 2027 dates and venues on the organiser’s own page.
  3. Ask for audited visitor figures, the exhibitor prospectus and the exhibitor manual.
  4. Confirm the stand type, exact dimensions and height limits.
  5. Write one headline claim and have your regulatory or compliance lead approve it.
  6. Request a free 2D mockup and approve the proof early.
  7. Tell your supplier the show date and agree a dispatch date in writing.
  8. Plan delivery for the week before the show, and earlier for January and Sunday dates.
  9. Set a meeting or lead target and a follow-up plan for every contact.

Talk to an expert before the 2027 calendar fills up

Choose the shows your buyers attend, set a clear target for each and give your approvers enough time to sign off artwork without rushing. Frequently Asked Questions

Are UK pharmaceutical exhibitions open to the public? +
Generally no. These are professional events. Making Pharma and ELRIG Drug Discovery advertise free entry for industry visitors, and UK Biotech Day directs visitors to register through its website. The Pharmacy Show states that undergraduates and under-18s cannot attend. Rules differ by show, so read the visitor page before you travel.
Which UK pharmaceutical exhibition is best for manufacturing suppliers? +
Making Pharma, with Moving Pharma and Making Nutra, is the closest match among the shows checked. The organiser positions it around manufacturing, ingredients, packaging, quality, regulation and distribution, and the 2027 edition runs on 20 and 21 April at the NEC. Its exhibitor and attendee figures are unaudited, so ask the organiser for current numbers before you book.
What stand height limits apply at UK pharmaceutical shows? +
It depends on the show and the stand type. Making Pharma’s 2027 exhibit page lists 4m for space-only stands and 2.4m for shell scheme stands. Always read the exhibitor manual, because limits, power and rules on hanging structures vary. Send us the exact dimensions and we can confirm in writing that the finished display fits before printing.
How early should I order a display for the January genomics show? +
Approve your proof before the Christmas period if you can. Production and dispatch typically take five to seven business days from proof approval, weekends and public holidays are not counted, and carriers deliver Monday to Friday. Allow four to six weeks overall if your regulatory team must approve the artwork, and ask for express if the timing is tight.
Will my brand colours print accurately on a fabric display? +
Fabric colour on screen is a close guide, not an exact colour match. Send your brand colour references with your artwork, ask for a free 2D mockup and check the proof carefully before you approve it, because nothing prints until you confirm. If an exact match matters, tell the designers at the start.
