Education Trade Shows UK 2027: Dates, Venues and Which Ones Suit Your Business

Key Takeaways

  • The 2027 UK education calendar opens with Bett UK at ExCeL London (20–22 January), continues with the Childcare & Education Expo (5–6 March) and Digifest at Birmingham ICC (9–10 March), and reaches school leaders again at the Schools & Academies Show in London on 12 May.
  • Match the show to the buyer: Bett suits edtech and equipment for schools, colleges and universities, the Childcare & Education Expo suits nurseries and early years suppliers, and Digifest suits further and higher education technology.
  • Buyers are cautious. England had over 8.9 million pupils in 2025/26, 112,200 fewer than a year earlier, and the Education Secretary told Bett in January 2026 that children should not be kept on screens longer than necessary, so lead with the classroom outcome rather than the product.
  • Suppliers cannot always walk in free. The Schools & Academies Show lists private-sector tickets at Β£699 + VAT while schools and the public sector attend free, so check ticket rules before you plan a scouting visit.
  • Couriers deliver Monday to Friday and several shows open on a Tuesday or Wednesday, so aim for delivery in the week before, and settle artwork four to six weeks ahead, which for a 20 January show means before the holidays.

Education buyers arrive with a short list and limited time. A head of department, a school business manager or a nursery owner will give your stand a few seconds to say who it is for. If you are at the wrong show, or the right show with a message only a developer can follow, you pay for space and talk to people who cannot buy.

This guide sets out the education trade shows UK exhibitors should have in the diary for 2027: dates, venues, who each show suits and what to check before you commit. It covers shows for schools, early years, colleges and universities that have confirmed 2027 dates on the organiser’s own website. If you are still building a budget, our guide to what an exhibition stand costs in the UK is a useful companion.

Education trade shows in the UK at a glance (2027)

The table lists shows with 2027 dates on their organisers’ own websites at the time of writing (27 October 2026). Dates, halls and opening hours can change, so check the official page before you book travel or ship graphics.

Show 2027 dates Venue Best for
Bett UK Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 January ExCeL London Edtech, hardware and resources for schools, colleges and universities
Childcare & Education Expo London Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March ExCeL London Suppliers to nurseries and early years settings
Digifest Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 March Birmingham ICC (and online) Technology and services for further and higher education
Learning Technologies Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 May ExCeL London Workplace learning suppliers (not schools)
The Schools & Academies Show London Wednesday 12 May ExCeL London Suppliers to school, trust and academy leaders

Three shows are left out because we found no 2027 dates on the organisers’ pages: the Tes SEND Show, Education Estates and the Birmingham edition of the Schools & Academies Show. Student recruitment fairs and parent-facing school shows are separate events, and the Festival of Education is a conference, so none of them is assessed here.

What the education market tells exhibitors in 2027

A large market with a smaller roll

The Department for Education’s school statistics for 2025/26 count over 8.9 million pupils in schools in England and 24,499 schools. Pupil numbers fell by 112,200, or 1.2%, in a year, and the figures cover England only, so Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish buyers sit outside them.

A smaller roll does not shrink the buying list, but it does mean every purchase gets questioned. Expect visitors to ask what your product replaces, what it costs per pupil and who will support it after the show.

Technology buyers want evidence, not novelty

Speaking at the Bett UK conference on 21 January 2026, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson announced Β£23 million to expand the EdTech Testbeds pilot into a four-year programme. Funding is arriving, but with conditions attached.

β€œkept on apps or on screens longer than necessary for their education”

That fragment comes from her statement that the government does not want children kept on apps or screens for longer than their education requires. If you sell screens, software or devices, open with the learning outcome and the teacher time saved. If you sell furniture, resources or services, say what changes in the classroom.

Organiser figures show where the crowds are

Bett’s organisers report that the 2026 show drew over 37,000 attendees, including 14,000 education decision makers, with 700+ exhibitors from 130+ countries, and the research firm Futuresource, an official research partner, estimates 37,500+ attendees. The same Bett page gives lower figures in its FAQ, so treat the numbers as organiser claims.

Other shows are smaller. Learning Technologies reports 15,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors for 2026, and the Schools & Academies Show cites 4,000+ school leaders and 250+ solution providers without saying which year. Size matters less than whether the people walking past can sign an order.

The top UK education trade shows for 2027

Bett UK: 20–22 January 2027, ExCeL London

Event: Bett UK

Venue: ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, London

Date: Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 January 2027

Best for: Edtech, hardware and resources for schools, colleges and universities

Bett’s own site lists 2027 opening times. The exhibition floor opens at 10:00 on all three days, with the show closing at 18:00 on Wednesday and Thursday and 17:00 on Friday. The audience pages cover schools, higher education, government, solution providers, resellers and investors, and the page says educators go free. It does not list a ticket price for other visitors.

This is the biggest education technology show in the UK, so a small stand has to work quickly. Visitors range from classroom teachers to resellers, so decide which one you are talking to and say it in the first line of your graphic. Ask the organiser for stand sizes, the exhibitor manual and any height limits before you design hanging signage, because the pages we checked did not set out stand types. If you plan live demos, a printed counter gives you somewhere to put the device and a reason to stop.

Childcare & Education Expo London: 5–6 March 2027, ExCeL London

Event: Childcare & Education Expo London

Venue: ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, London

Date: Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March 2027, 10:00 to 16:00

Best for: Suppliers to nurseries and early years settings

Broadway Events’ show moves from Olympia, where it ran for a decade, to ExCeL London in 2027, according to Exhibition News and the organiser’s page. Visitor registration is free, and the page describes the audience as early years leaders and professionals from the UK and abroad.

The organiser says it has helped more than 60,000 nurseries and childcare businesses since 2009, which is a cumulative figure, not an attendance count. Exhibition News reports over 4,000 attendees and 150 exhibitors with no year attached. Testimonials mention nursery owners, managers and practitioners, who are often buying for a single setting, so put a clear price or next step on the stand. A roll-up banner is a compact way to do that on a small plot, and a Saturday opening means someone must be on the stand both days.

Digifest: 9–10 March 2027, Birmingham ICC

Event: Digifest (Jisc)

Venue: Birmingham ICC, Broad Street, Birmingham, and online

Date: Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 March 2027

Best for: Technology and services for further and higher education

Jisc’s own page says Digifest 2027 takes place on 9–10 March at Birmingham ICC and online, and describes it as a two-day conference on the future of education and research. The 2026 edition had an exhibition that opened at 08:45 on the first day, so expect a conference audience first and browsers second. Neither page states delegate or exhibitor numbers or ticket costs.

Jisc’s 2026 event page says the organisers use reusable stands, multiple display deliveries and digital messaging instead of printed materials. Ask whether the same applies to exhibitors in 2027. A display you can reuse across several shows, such as a fabric pop-up display, fits that approach better than a one-off print.

Learning Technologies: 5–6 May 2027, ExCeL London

Event: Learning Technologies

Venue: ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, London

Date: Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 May 2027, 09:00 to 17:00

Best for: Workplace learning and development suppliers (not schools)

This is a workplace learning show, not a schools show. The organiser calls it Europe’s leading workplace learning event, co-located with HR Technologies UK, and says the 2026 edition had 15,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors. The page gives no 2027 numbers.

The exhibition is free for learning and development professionals and the conference is paid. Include it only if your buyers are employers’ training and HR teams, for example if you sell e-learning content or platforms to businesses. If your buyers are schools, colleges or nurseries, this is the wrong room.

The Schools & Academies Show London: 12 May 2027, ExCeL London

Event: The Schools & Academies Show London (SAAS London)

Venue: ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, London

Date: Wednesday 12 May 2027

Best for: Suppliers to school, trust and academy leaders

The organiser’s SAAS London 2027 page lists 12 May 2027 at ExCeL London and says registration opens in early 2027. One third-party listing shows 13 May, so confirm with the organiser. The Birmingham edition runs at the NEC on 18–19 November 2026, and we found no 2027 Birmingham date.

The FAQ page says entry is free for schools, academies, trusts, colleges, universities and the wider public sector, and lists private-sector tickets at Β£699 + VAT, with no year stated. The homepage cites 4,000+ school leaders and 250+ solution providers, again without a year. Leaders and school business managers read stands quickly, so state what you do, for whom and roughly what it costs, in plain words.

How to choose the right education show

Start with who signs the order

Visitor numbers matter less than whether the people walking past can say yes. List your last ten customers and note whether each was a school, trust, college, university, nursery or employer. Then match the show to the buyer, not the other way round.

If you sell to… Start with Why
Schools, colleges and universities (edtech, hardware, resources) Bett UK The organiser’s audience pages cover schools, higher education and government, and it reports the largest figures
Nurseries and early years settings Childcare & Education Expo London The page describes the audience as early years leaders and professionals, with free visitor registration
Further and higher education IT, library and learning teams Digifest A Jisc conference on education and research, with an exhibition alongside
Headteachers, trust leaders and school business managers The Schools & Academies Show London The organiser targets school leaders, and entry is free for schools
Employers’ training and HR teams Learning Technologies The organiser describes a workplace learning audience

Set a target before you pay for space

Education purchases often pass through budget holders and committees, so one show rarely closes a sale. Set targets you can count: booked demos, trial sign-ups, quote requests. Divide your total cost of exhibiting, including space, stand, travel, accommodation and staff time, by your average first order value to see how many new customers the show must produce to break even.

Match the stand to the floor

Check whether your space is a shell scheme or a space-only plot. A shell scheme gives you panels to attach graphics to, so shell scheme graphics must be cut to the panel sizes and fixed with the method the organiser allows. A space-only plot gives you freedom but means bringing your own structure. Our guide to small exhibition stand ideas shows what works on a compact footprint.

Making an education stand work harder

  • Name your buyer. Teachers, bursars and nursery managers are not all technology buyers. Put the sector on the graphic, for example β€œfor primary schools” or β€œfor early years settings”.
  • Show it working. A short live demo or a sample on a counter does more than a spec list. Keep the headline about the outcome, not the device.
  • Keep text readable across a gangway. Use one short headline, one proof point and one next step, in large type with strong contrast.
  • Leave space to talk. Visitors with prams, wheelchairs or lanyards full of leaflets need room, so keep the front of the stand uncluttered.
  • Light your products properly. Our guide to exhibition stand lighting covers the options for halls with mixed light.
  • Plan for reuse. A display that carries new graphics from Bett to a spring show costs less over a year than a fresh build each time, and suits organisers who ask for less waste.

Preparing your display for a 2027 show

Production and dispatch typically take five to seven business days from the next working day after you order and approve your proof. Express is quoted at around four to five business days and costs extra. Larger builds are quoted at 10 to 12 business days, so confirm the timeline for your product. A free 2D mockup shows your artwork on the exact display before you commit, and our designers can help get a file print-ready.

Couriers set the transit time, so aim for delivery a few days before you need the goods. Bett opens on a Wednesday and the Childcare & Education Expo on a Friday, and carriers deliver Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm with a signature, so plan delivery for the week before. For a 20 January show, four to six weeks before takes you into the first half of December, so settle artwork before the holiday period. Our exhibition stand checklist covers the rest of the build-up, and the stand size collection helps you match a display to your plot.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Booking the biggest show by default. A large hall with the wrong buyers is an expensive way to be ignored.
  • Mixing up schools and workplaces. Learning Technologies is for employers’ training teams, so a schools supplier will find few buyers there.
  • Skipping the ticket rules. Free entry for schools does not mean free entry for suppliers, so check before you plan a visit.
  • Leading with technology. Buyers under pressure want the outcome first, then the product.
  • Leaving artwork late. Delivery runs Monday to Friday, so a late proof can mean a missed opening.

Your pre-show checklist

  1. List your last ten customers and identify the buyer type for each.
  2. Shortlist two or three shows and confirm the 2027 dates on the organiser’s page.
  3. Ask for audited visitor figures, the floor plan and the exhibitor manual.
  4. Confirm the stand type (shell scheme or space only) and any height limits.
  5. Set a target for demos, leads or orders before you pay for space.
  6. Approve artwork four to six weeks before the show, and earlier for a January date.
  7. Arrange delivery for the week before, with someone to sign for the parcel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are UK education trade shows open to the public? +
Mostly no, they are professional events. Bett says educators go free and students can attend, the Childcare & Education Expo offers free visitor registration, and the Schools & Academies Show is free for schools and the public sector but lists private-sector tickets at Β£699 + VAT. Learning Technologies says its exhibition is free for learning and development professionals. Check each organiser’s page, because rules and prices change.
Which UK education trade show is the biggest? +
On reported figures, Bett UK. Its organisers cite over 37,000 attendees and 700+ exhibitors for 2026, and Futuresource estimates 37,500+ attendees. Learning Technologies reports 15,000 attendees, though it serves workplace training rather than schools. Digifest and the Schools & Academies Show do not publish comparable counts for a stated year.
Is Bett worth it for a small supplier? +
It depends on your buyer and budget. Bett’s pages we checked did not list stand prices or ticket costs for suppliers, so ask the organiser before you commit. A smaller show aimed at one sector, such as the Childcare & Education Expo for early years, may give you better conversations for less. If you are unsure, visit once as a general attendee and note which visitors stop at stands like yours.
Can I reuse one display across several education shows? +
Yes, if the artwork is not tied to one event. Keep the core message and logo on the main graphic and put show names, dates or offers on a banner or counter panel you can swap. Check each show’s stand size and height limits first, because a display that fits a 3m plot at one hall may not suit a different layout elsewhere.
How early should I order a display for a January show? +
Aim to approve artwork four to six weeks before the show, which for Bett on 20 January means the first half of December. Production and dispatch typically take five to seven business days from proof approval, longer for large builds. Carriers deliver Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and someone must sign. Weekend delivery is available for an extra charge if you arrange it before ordering.
