Automotive Trade Shows UK 2027: Dates, Venues and Which Ones Suit Your Business

Key Takeaways

  • The 2027 UK automotive calendar runs from the London International Motor Show at ExCeL London (26–28 February), through the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC (20–22 April) and Automechanika Birmingham at the NEC (8–10 June), to Fleet Live at the NEC (5–6 October).
  • Choose by who buys from you. Parts and aftermarket suppliers should look first at Automechanika, truck, van and bus suppliers at the Commercial Vehicle Show, fleet-focused suppliers at Fleet Live, and consumer-facing or media-led brands at the London show.
  • Conditions are mixed. UK vehicle production fell 7.5% in the first half of 2026 and HGV registrations are down 3.8% year to date, yet September new car registrations rose 12.1% and battery electric registrations rose 36.3%, so set a meeting or order target for each show before you pay for space.
  • An automotive stand sells on product and proof. Plan a hero product, a counter for conversations and a large clean graphic, and check the exhibitor manual early if a vehicle will sit on your stand.
  • Three of the four shows open on a Tuesday and the London show opens on a Friday, while couriers deliver Monday to Friday, so plan delivery for the week before and allow four to six weeks for artwork and production.

Automotive buyers walk a hall with a plan. A fleet manager, a motor factor or a garage owner has a short list of suppliers to see and a train to catch, so if your stand is at the wrong show, or the right show with a graphic that disappears from the aisle, the conversation never starts. The stakes are real in a sector that, according to the SMMT’s Motor Industry Facts 2026 summary, supports some 796,000 jobs, including more than 183,000 in manufacturing.

This guide sets out the automotive trade shows UK suppliers, dealers and service providers should have in the diary for 2027: the event, the venue, the date, who each show suits and what to check before you commit. It is written for exhibitors choosing where to spend a budget, and it works equally well if you are a buyer deciding which halls to visit.

Automotive trade shows in the UK at a glance (2027)

The table lists shows with 2027 dates on their organisers’ own websites at the time of writing (27 October 2026). Dates, halls and opening hours can change, so check the official page before you book travel or ship graphics.

Show 2027 dates Venue Best for
London International Motor Show (with Motorsport Expo and Car Culture UK) Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February ExCeL London Vehicle brands, motorsport and aftermarket suppliers, media and consumers
The Commercial Vehicle Show Tuesday 20 to Thursday 22 April Halls 4 & 5, NEC Birmingham Truck, van, trailer and transport suppliers selling to operators
Automechanika Birmingham Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 June NEC Birmingham Aftermarket, parts, garage equipment and bodyshop suppliers
Fleet Live Tuesday 5 to Wednesday 6 October NEC Birmingham Suppliers to fleet managers and fleet decision-makers

The list covers vehicles, parts, commercial transport and fleet. Shows that have been cancelled, postponed or have no confirmed 2027 dates, including Autosport International and Cenex Expo, are covered in the section on shows to watch.

What the automotive market tells exhibitors in 2027

A large industry with a difficult production year

The SMMT puts UK automotive manufacturing at Β£92 billion of turnover with more than 183,000 people employed, and some 796,000 jobs once the wider sector is included, though the page does not give a year for those totals. Output is under pressure. The SMMT reported that UK vehicle production fell 7.5% to 385,979 units in the first half of 2026, a drop its chief executive Mike Hawes described in blunt terms.

β€œGlobal vehicle production remains under intense pressure, and the UK is no exception.”

For an exhibitor selling into manufacturing, that means purchasing teams are careful. They will still look at suppliers, but they want clear proof that you can save time, cost or downtime.

Showroom demand and fleet demand are moving differently

Demand is stronger at the point of sale. Preliminary SMMT data reported by electrive shows that UK new car registrations grew 12.1% to 350,518 units in September 2026, with battery electric registrations up 36.3% to 99,199. September is a new-plate month, so treat it as a strong month rather than a trend. Commercial vehicles are slower. The SMMT said HGV registrations rose 7.2% on the quarter to 9,941 in the third quarter of 2026, the first quarterly increase since the second quarter of 2024, but the year to date is still down 3.8%.

Buyers still come to the hall

The Commercial Vehicle Show’s organisers say that nearly 15,000 transport and fleet professionals attended in 2026, and that 87% of attendees were influencers or key decision-makers. These are organiser figures, not audited ones, but they suggest that a well-run trade show still puts you in front of people who can approve a purchase.

Three key UK automotive figures: 385,979 vehicles produced in the first half of 2026, 350,518 new cars registered in September 2026, and nearly 15,000 visitors at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026

The top UK automotive trade shows for 2027

London International Motor Show: 26–28 February 2027, ExCeL London

Event: London International Motor Show (with Motorsport Expo and Car Culture UK)

Venue: ExCeL London

Date: Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February 2027

Best for: Vehicle brands, motorsport and aftermarket suppliers, media and consumers

This is a new launch rather than an established trade fixture. The London International Motor Show returns to the calendar after the last London Motor Show in 2019, with ExCeL London confirming that it will run alongside Motorsport Expo and Car Culture UK on the same dates. The show’s own page promises tickets at Β£25 for adults and Β£15 for children, with hours of 09:00 to 18:00 each day, and the organiser’s communications partner, MICA, says Friday 26 February will include a media preview.

That mix of public visitors, media and industry means the show suits brands that want to be seen rather than suppliers who need to write orders. It centres on hybrid and electric vehicles, and no exhibitor list or attendance target had been published when we checked, so ask the organiser what the audience mix will be before you book. If you exhibit, expect a show floor aimed at a consumer eye line: big imagery, clear branding and enough room for staff to talk, such as a printed counter or podium at the front of the stand.

The Commercial Vehicle Show: 20–22 April 2027, NEC Birmingham

Event: The Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show)

Venue: Halls 4 & 5, NEC Birmingham

Date: Tuesday 20 to Thursday 22 April 2027 (09:30 to 17:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 09:30 to 15:30 on Thursday)

Best for: Truck, van, trailer and transport suppliers selling to operators and fleets

The CV Show is a trade event for the road transport industry, and the organiser’s 2027 page confirms the dates, halls and daily hours. It lists 350+ exhibitors, 10,000+ products and solutions and 150+ speakers but does not say which year those figures describe, so treat them as a guide to scale and ask for audited numbers. The 2026 attendance claim of nearly 15,000 is covered above.

The show is co-located with Bus & Coach Expo, although the organiser’s page showed no 2027 details for it when we checked. The audience is operators, fleet buyers and transport managers, who tend to be practical. Show a product in use, state the benefit in one line and keep literature to a minimum. Large vehicles and equipment usually need wide, uncluttered stands, so check whether you have a space-only plot and how much frontage you can fit. Our exhibition displays by stand size show what suits a 3m, 6m or larger frontage.

Automechanika Birmingham: 8–10 June 2027, NEC Birmingham

Event: Automechanika Birmingham

Venue: NEC Birmingham

Date: Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 June 2027

Best for: Parts, aftermarket, garage equipment, bodyshop and workshop suppliers

Automechanika Birmingham is Messe Frankfurt’s UK show for the automotive aftermarket and supply chain. The organiser’s page says the 2027 edition will bring together 550+ brands from 25+ countries and about 15,000 senior UK-based visitors. These are the organiser’s expectations for 2027, not results from a past show. The audience it names is motor factors, distributors, retailers and dealerships, garages, bodyshops and detailers, and supply-chain buyers such as OEMs and Tier 1 engineers.

The programme includes a three-day Innovation4Mobility conference and 13 feature areas, so the hall will be busy and noisy. For a parts supplier, the front of your stand has to explain what you sell in a few seconds. A tall, clean graphic, a shelving wall for product and a counter for conversations tend to work better than a table of leaflets. A booth kit with shelving, header and counter is one way to pull those pieces together, and retail display stands suit product you want visitors to pick up.

Fleet Live: 5–6 October 2027, NEC Birmingham

Event: Fleet Live (formerly Fleet and Mobility Live)

Venue: NEC Birmingham

Date: Tuesday 5 to Wednesday 6 October 2027 (09:30 to 16:30 on Tuesday, 09:30 to 16:00 on Wednesday)

Best for: Suppliers to fleet managers, leasing and fleet decision-makers

Fleet Live’s own site announces that the show β€œofficially returns in 2027” on 5–6 October at the NEC, and the 2026 edition ran under the name Fleet and Mobility Live in Hall 6. The highlights on the page quote 2,000+ fleet professionals, 60+ speakers, 83% at manager level or above and 100+ exhibitors, but the page does not state a year for them. The 2027 hall had not been named when we checked.

On the organiser’s figures this is a smaller, more focused show than Automechanika, and it looks like a good fit for suppliers selling telematics, charging, maintenance, leasing and driver services to fleets. A smaller audience rewards a stand built for conversation, with a counter, a seating point and a clear one-line message on the backwall. Use a hanging banner only after confirming in the exhibitor manual what the organiser allows above stand height.

Shows to watch: Autosport International and Cenex Expo

Two shows are worth tracking but are left out of the table. Autosport International was cancelled for 2026 and its organisers said in October 2025 that it would return in 2027 with a new direction, but the pages we checked gave no 2027 dates. Cenex Expo’s organisers said on 27 May 2026 that the September 2026 event would be postponed and gave no new date. Check both organisers before you finalise your calendar.

How to choose the right automotive show

Start with who buys from you

Visitor numbers matter less than whether the people walking past can say yes. Look at your last ten orders and note whether each came from a manufacturer, a distributor, a garage, a fleet or a dealer. Then match the show to the buyer, not the other way round.

If you sell to… Start with Why
Garages, bodyshops, motor factors and distributors Automechanika Birmingham The organiser lists these buyers as its core audience
Truck, van and trailer operators and transport managers The Commercial Vehicle Show The show is built for road transport professionals, and 87% of 2026 attendees were influencers or decision-makers, according to the organiser
Fleet managers and leasing decision-makers Fleet Live The show describes itself as a fleet-focused event with manager-level attendance
Consumers, media and vehicle brand teams London International Motor Show The show runs for three days with public tickets and a media preview, but it is new and its exhibitor mix is not yet published

Set a target before you pay for space

Decide what a good show looks like in numbers: booked meetings, qualified leads, trial orders. A simple test is to divide your total cost of exhibiting, including space, stand, travel, accommodation and staff time, by your average first order value. That tells you how many new accounts you need to break even. Our exhibition stand cost guide shows what the stand itself typically adds to that figure.

Match the stand to the floor

Check whether your space is a shell scheme or a space-only plot. A shell scheme gives you panels to attach graphics to, so shell scheme graphics must be cut to the exact panel sizes. A space-only plot lets you build freestanding walls, counters and lighting, and a larger frontage is where a 6m exhibition display starts to make sense. If you are working to a tight budget, our guide to small exhibition stand ideas shows what can be done on a 3m frontage.

Making an automotive stand work harder

  • Lead with the product. A part, a tool or a vehicle on the stand tells visitors what you do faster than a slogan. Use one hero product and let the graphic support it.
  • Read the vehicle rules first. If a vehicle will sit on your stand, ask the organiser early about floor loading, fuel and battery rules, weight limits and any need to protect the floor, and measure the vehicle with its doors open before you design the layout.
  • Define the floor. A branded floor makes a stand look finished and defines your space on a busy aisle. Our exhibition flooring collection is worth a look, but check that the organiser allows it on your plot.
  • Light the product honestly. Paint, finish and detail are judged by eye, so even light matters. Our guide to exhibition stand lighting covers the options, and a backlit display can give technical imagery a clean, even finish.
  • Make a place to talk. Buyers at trade shows want a conversation, a price and a follow-up. A counter, a tablet stand and a small seating area do more than a leaflet rack. See our brochure and tablet stands for options.
  • Keep one message. Visitors pass dozens of stands. One clear headline and a single hero image will be remembered longer than six.

Preparing your display for a 2027 show

Production and dispatch typically take five to seven business days from the next working day after you order and approve your proof. Express is quoted at around four to five business days and costs extra. Your order confirmation shows the dispatch date, and if Backdropsource misses it, the order is upgraded to expedited shipping at its cost.

Couriers set the transit time, so aim for delivery a few days before you need the goods. The CV Show, Automechanika and Fleet Live open on a Tuesday and the London show opens on a Friday, and carriers deliver Monday to Friday, so deliver the week before and check the organiser’s build-up times. Most displays are tool-free and freestanding, which makes setup quick, and our exhibition stand checklist covers packing, setup and breakdown. If you are travelling between the NEC and London, a portable exhibition display packs into a bag and fits in a car boot.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Booking the biggest show by default. A large hall with the wrong buyers is an expensive way to be ignored.
  • Treating consumers and trade buyers as one audience. The London show has public tickets, while the CV Show, Automechanika and Fleet Live are aimed at business visitors.
  • Designing before you know the stand type. A graphic for a space-only plot will not fit shell scheme panels.
  • Ignoring the exhibitor manual. Rules on vehicles, hanging signs, flooring and demonstrations can change what you can build.
  • Leaving artwork late. Late files cause most dispatch slips. Our first-time exhibitor checklist covers what to prepare and when, and our trade show marketing guide covers what to do before and after the show.

Your pre-show checklist

  1. List your last ten orders and identify the buyer type for each.
  2. Shortlist two or three shows and confirm the 2027 dates on the organiser’s page.
  3. Ask for audited visitor figures, the floor plan and the exhibitor manual.
  4. Confirm the stand type (shell scheme or space only) and the exact dimensions.
  5. If a vehicle will be on the stand, confirm the organiser’s rules and measure it with the doors open.
  6. Choose one headline message and the products that go on display.
  7. Request a free 2D mockup and approve the proof early.
  8. Tell your supplier the show date and agree a dispatch date in writing.
  9. Plan delivery for the week before the show, especially for the Friday opening in London.
  10. Set a meeting or order target and a follow-up plan for every lead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are UK automotive trade shows open to the public? +
It depends on the show. The London International Motor Show sells public tickets, which were priced at Β£25 for adults and Β£15 for children on its website at the time of writing. The Commercial Vehicle Show, Automechanika Birmingham and Fleet Live are business events, so you should expect to register with a company name and job role. Entry rules and prices can change, so read the visitor page for each show before you travel.
Which UK automotive show is best for garages and the aftermarket? +
Automechanika Birmingham is the clearest fit. The organiser names garages, bodyshops, detailers, motor factors, distributors and dealerships as its visitors, and the 2027 edition runs from 8 to 10 June at the NEC. If you sell to commercial vehicle workshops, the Commercial Vehicle Show in April may reach more of your buyers, so compare the visitor profiles before you choose.
How big a stand do I need if I am showing a vehicle? +
Measure the vehicle with its doors open, then add clear walkway space on every side where visitors will stand. A vehicle plus a counter and a graphic wall usually needs a space-only plot rather than a shell scheme bay, and the organiser may have rules on weight, fuel and floor protection. Ask for the exhibitor manual and plot dimensions before you design, and share the plan with your display supplier so graphics are sized to the real frontage.
Can I reuse the same display at different automotive shows? +
Yes, if you plan for it. Freestanding fabric displays use aluminium frames that are built to be reused, so you can order a replacement print for a new message and slide it onto the frame you already own. Pick graphics that work at more than one stand size where you can, and confirm the next stand type before you ship the display from one show to the next.
How early should I order a display for an April show? +
Aim to approve artwork at least four to six weeks before the show. Production and dispatch typically take five to seven business days from proof approval, longer for large builds. Carriers deliver Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and someone must sign, so for a Tuesday opening you should plan delivery for the week before. Tell your supplier the show date when you order so a dispatch date and any express option can be planned.
